EK or DD block for gtx 580?

Completely new to the water cooling scene, and currently deciding on a few bits and pieces for my setup, which is an i7 920 C0 and gtx 580 cooled on a single loop (adding a second card at a later date).

Hopefully the title says it all, although I am struggling to find anywhere to obtain the DD block from in the UK. I am however under the impression they will both perform very similarly, but the Danger Den block has less flow restriction.

So what exactly is the benefit in terms of real world performance, is this a completely system dependent variable?

If I was to add an additional card to the loop, I assume the low pressure drop over the block would come in extremely handy?

I might be being a bit lazy here asking for help, but trawling through google results for every question I have is becoming more and more tedious...

All my assumptions about blocks are based on what I have found for GTX 480 waterblocks, so if anyone has first hand experience, or knows of any major differences between the blocks that would allow for different results please share :)

Thanks for reading and hopefully replying ;)

I fitted both my 580's with EK water blocks yesterday.

No problems found & a very straight forward job.
I can not comment on DD products, as I have never used them, as they would have to be imported into the country.

As for the EK's :)

yep ek for mine as well. id say get the back plate as well. i regrett not getting one and dont feelike draining my loop just yet as for flow restrictions, mine is giving the same temps as my friends who got a DD block and got slap with import tax

Hmm okay, I will probably be ordering one today. I assume the nickel plated copper version is purely aesthetic, along with the backplate?

Nickel asthetics and they don't discolour over time like the copper blocks do. As to flow rate, remember that the measurements for flow rate are in litres per hour. The difference between a DD block and a EK block is only 13lph. Thats only 200ml/min or 3.6ml/sec. Not exactly a huge amount and highly unlikely to make any difference to a water cooling loop with a decent pump like a D5 or DDC.

Ahh yes of course, and I am going to be using a d5 too, thanks.

We have the GTX 580 nickel plexi block and nickel backplate instock now :)

Unfortunately I don't really like the look of the clear blocks, otherwise I would be clicking order right now :(
