Why did they add big silver edges to their radiators? The previous line was nicer all square edges, all black.

The problem is that WC is becoming a niche hobby - the results you got from overlocking on water are not there anymore.
so is pc gaming with how expensive everything is getting.
Greed is good, keep the 40% profit margins like NVDA/AMD then wonder why everyone buys consoles instead of upgrading a pc every 1-2 years.

Thats been the case since the days of the playstation. PC gaming generally gets you better graphics etc (4K 60 fps / 240Hz) that tend to be a generation ahead of their console counterparts. Also access to some games that just dont get released on consoles (MMO/RTS/Builder games) or are heavily cut.
I wsa doing a cost comparison, for the casual gamer, services such as Geforce Now are quite competitive.

PC also have the added benefit of being able to do stuff other than just games.

look how greedy nvidia got in recent years

there's a clear trend of higher margins for all, they could easily lower prices 20% and still be making fat stacks but they charge what they think people will pay and it seems people are prepared to pay more and more every year

Which is a silly argument used purely by the toxic PCMR to dump on consoles. It is entirely irrelevant that a "PC can do more" if all you want to do is play games. Why spend the bucketloads of extra money for the capability to do more if you're never actually going to do more?

Wasn't dumping on consoles - just saying that they have been price competitive since the playstation days. It has almost always been cheaper to spend £200-400 on the console that will last 10y rather than £500-1000 on the PC, followed by GPU upgrades every 2-5y.
If you must play a PC game, thats why I said streaming options are now very viable for casual gamers.

like others have said, their FE blocks were crazy prices, they could easily made a cheaper version. Everything they make is crazy money look at the distro plates - sometimes £300 and they still palm you off with a DDC 3.1
