** EKWB-PREDATOR - AVAILABLE NOW **

pre order it now if you want one

bear in mind though that if you want to change from intel to AMD then you will need to take the block apart to install the hold down plate.

this will not invalidate your warranty as it is an EK product and it is compatible, however, you would need to be comfortable in draining and filling your watercooler as well as knowing you would need to replace the coolant with a suitable new coolant such as EK or Mayhems.

ok
so the backplate needs to come off to fit it.

tried without and it doesnt work.
its easy to install, if you can install a CPU cooler, you can remove a socket. it really isnt hard to do.

guide incoming.

get a star tip for your screwdriver.

undo the screw at the bottom of the socket.

and then the ones at the top of the socket.

leave the socket protector in place and flip the board over. the backplate should come loose.

Put the green paper surround on the backplate position, this will stop the metal backplate from shorting on the board.

put the metal plate on top of this in position of the old backplate.

Use the bottom screw to secure the backplate in place first

then screw in the top screws and replace the clasp for the CPU socket.

then install the CPU as normal, remove socket protector, spread thermal paste and screw the block to the motherboard whilst laughing at how easy all that was :)

Thanks rjk for the pics. I'm sure it'll be easy to do,but still scared to install it. Don't want to break mobo. I can see it was easy while the mobo was out of case. I'll be installing it with the board in the case. Might be a little harder I would think?

If you can build a computer you can do what I have show you in that guide. It's three screws. It couldn't be any easier.

They're more robust than you think. Just keep the socket protector in place and you can't go wrong. Just follow the pics I posted. Easy street :)

well
the official launch is 23rd
but EK have said i can ship the pre orders from monday

the 360 is coming in october like it says in the OP :)

I am interested in it but will only buy one if Ocuk does a tech labs customized version of it like different coloured CPU blocks, Transparent tubes/coolants etc.

Yeah thats worth having a look at. I would be interested.

We are working on it. The main problem we have is that the fittings on the rad side are a rotary fitting and they are tough to open up. looking for a workaround that works well enough for us to sell at retail and warranty ourselves.

so far, probably not

the reason being is that to include a different block, you would essentially have to buy a predator and use another block. This would mean that the customer would incur the cost of the unit plus an additional block.

unless EK makes it so I can just buy the coolstream rad/pump combo on its own, I can't see this changing.

This morning, I have done this...

Its looking good and testing is going well so far.

Should have an option live for you all very soon.

Now THAT is what I am talking about!
That looks great!

I did get a little worried when you said the fittings were hard to get off the rad, that kind of defeats the idea of an upgradeable aio!

its hard to explain, we had one fitting here which was basically jammed. not sure what caused it but I wrecked it trying to get it open. the other just came open in my hand.

I need to speak to EK about it really as the fittings used on the rad side of the cooler arent available separately yet.

we will launch the Tech Labs version as soon as we can.

What he said .. White Option please !!!!!!

coolant options will be in a drop down so you will be able to choose any mayhems pastel or coloured coolant.

whatever colour you want, we will have it.

sorry if this is a repeat post. will you be offering custom options on the 360 with the clear / colour tubes. Also are you able to double up on the fans for push pull

yes. probably not coloured tube as coloured coolant looks better and we carry more bulk stock of clear tubing.

dont do push pull. you need the fans working at the same speeds to work correctly in that configuration and the fans on the cooler are PWM controlled which means you will have two sets of fans running at different speeds. This is terrible for performance.

Push pull is a waste of time and only adds to noise. get it out of your head please :)

Just wondering if there will be a 120 / 140 mm in the works, single rad would be awesome for a GPU set up only.

most likely no.

EKWB did a bunch of market research into what people wanted from a performance AIO. their brief for the predator was to make a high performance product based on watercooling products that sell.

in watercooling, single fan rads are by far and away the worst sellers with people opting mainly for dual fan radiators as the entry option. I guess many see it as 'not much more money and double the performance', and most people regard a dual fan rad solution as the ideal setup for cooling any CPU.

if there is a single fan version later down the line, then i would be very surprised

any news on adding a gpu block to this and then selling that to us?

not until we can get the rad pump combo alone. otherwise people are paying for the predator with the price of the supremacy block but not using it.

Well you made me feel like a right noob :( are you saying my fractal aio with its factory supplied push pull is a waste of time :(

that wasnt my intention. yeah push pull is a waste of time :)

What size tubing and connections are used here? Sorry if this has been asked before.

top of my head, 16/10. could be wrong though, spec is on the EKWB shop website.
