T'other night I switched on the lights on the extractor hood only to be met with a bright flash of light, a pop and then nothing.

I checked the extractor function and that didn't work in any speed 1-2-3.

There is a fused switch on the wall which I guess must be for the extractor so I popped out the fuse and tested that. The fuse was dead so I replaced it with a new fuse but alas I still have no light or extraction!

Is there likely to be an internal fuse in there as well somewhere? Obviously something made it go bang (my term for the flashing light) so I just want to know whether it's dead Jim and I need to find a new extractor or I can buy part x or replace fuse Z and all will be good again!

The exctractor is a whirlpool generation 2000+

Do you have any lights working on it, had the same before where for some reason when the bulbs blew it wouldnt work. Replaced the bulbs and it worked again

It's fitted with 2 bulbs, 1 of which had gone. I replaced it but still nothing.

Checked your breakers?

Breakers had already been checked and none have tripped.

make sure the fuse u replaced it with is ok.If u can get hold of a tester take the cover off the extractor and check to see if u have 240v at it.check live to earth and live to neutral.I have not come across an internal fuse inside a extractor fan. Also check if there is another spur on the curcuit.Maybe there is something else above the extractor.
