Email notifications - Anyone else's a bit flaky?

Couldn't think where to put this tbh, could do with a 'Forum Help' are.

I have all my thread subscriptions set to instant email notification. Now this works pretty well, but the later it gets, I tend to not get the notifications until the middle of the night. Anyone else get this? Seems to work perfectly fine through the day.

Flooded inbox alert! I turned them off when I was permanently around. But never noticed them being slow when I did have them.

Turned them Off years ago & use the Subscribed threads option in Quick links.

How many e-mails do you get if you've got it for every time someone responds?

Ahhhh, no, you get emails for the first response since you visited, then you don't get any till you visit again.

That's still a lot, if you visit and check the threads a lot.

I can't remember the pw to the email i signed up with, so have no idea how many ocuk emails i must have.

This is what is meant to happen. Which explains why I can get 2-3 emails per thread. :confused:

For example I went into Manchester yesterday with a mate. I left Thunderbird open and no emails from OcUK. Got back to 17 emails from OcUk for a lot less than 17 threads. Very weird.

Yeah, if you check the times, I'm willing to bet the posts were made a fair time before you got the emails.

Hmm doubt it. Would be difficult to prove, I delete the emails as soon as I get them and Thunderbird empties my Deleted folder when I shut it.

However I do have today's emails.

Are you getting the emails about the same thread even though you aren't visiting the site?
