i worked 23 hours last week for my employer (first time work, new job) and hes not paying me.

he agreed 105.8 pounds, but now is saying i wasnt employed and that was all trials, even though we agreeded my trials were over 2 weeks ago.

other employees have also had this from him, and he isnt paying them.

he also would only pay me cash in hand, saying something about tax....

the manager is backing me, and she is thinking of quiting aswell. i would quit but i need a job.

who can i call or what can i do to get my money.

my mum had to cut back on her job, and someextra cash would keep us in the black.

what can i do?

im 18 so minimum wage is 4.60

hes saying that would be the ammoutn i get, 4.60 x23, (no tax cutting...) and i will quit, but i need my money.

who do i report him to?

and where will i pay the tax from the work i have done seeing as he isnt, and i have to pay NI tax aswell

who do i report him to?

Since he's trying to do it cash in hand I'd presume the tax people, who unlike any other government agency will spring into action :p

After all they don't care if you steal, assault or slander people, but try and swindle tax and your screwed :p

im a trade union rep, go to the employment tribunal website and lodge a case for non payment of monies owed as its a fast track when money is owed

Do you need a job or do you need money or both? The fact the employer is not paying you doesn't mean by staying on you will get paid.

I'd look through ACAS first, failing that I would gain some solid evidence and take him to the small claims court.

Finally; Find another job and research your employer next time.

*edit*

Highly unlikely HMRC will even care, well not to the extent of actually helping you get your money.

mmmm :(

how do i get solid proof. i do have some hours logged not all, and the manager is my evidence of me working.

i need the money not job. but now he is saying im not even employed, even though i have dont work for him :(

Cash in hand jobs, evading tax is illegal. In fact, you are being conned, treated like an illegal immigrant! Did you even give this employer your NI number?

He's maybe not putting you "through the books"

Have you signed anything?

Witnesses would be your only strength afaik.

If you are in a bad situation and need weekly earnings it may be best to just leave this and find another job with someone that has a good reputation. Better yet get a supermarket/fast food/retail job with a big company then you are much more safer.

Otherwise you could spend wasted time both working and trying to get your money out of this guy, this is time that could have spent elsewhere.
