encoding an mjpeg avi file

i'm trying to upload a video i've made to to youtube.

i've tried encoding with xvid and the even on the highest settings, it looks blocky and bad.

i've heard that mjpeg will give larger files but better quality, but i've tried to search for a few codecs and cannot find a good one. perhaps my google skills are bad, but i just need an mjpeg codec that works with virtualdub. is anyone here using a good one or have one that they can recommend?

finally, does youtube accept mjpeg files?

hi, it turns out VLC was making my encoded videos look bad, i tried playing them in WMP and they look fine, so i went for x264 in the end, thanks!
