Evening all,

Cancelled my Orange contract to move to O2 for a better deal, however I wanted to do the simple task of copying my contacts to a bit of paper from my old phone (Samsung D900) so I can transfer them to my new phone when it arrives.

As I was told, my phone was cut off today and I lost signal and couldnt make any phone calls etc, but not only that, they stopped the phone from doing anything else, like accessing its phone book so I cant get any of my old numbers off of it! Its also disabled the phones data port so cant access anything via USB neither. I can get into the menus and that sort of thing, its not totally locked if you know what I mean.

Is there anyway around this? I really dont want to have to spend £10 on getting the thing unlocked etc.

I think it's not to do with the fact that your contract has finished, but the fact that the phone wants a live Orange SIM card, regardless of whether it was your original contract number or not. So if you can borrow any Orange SIM card and get it to start up, that should do the trick.
