Hi guys

I have a Yamaha Raptor 660R Quad, this one is a keeper for me and currently I'm in the process or completely stripping it and powder coating the frame.

When rebuilding I'm going to replace the engine with a more powerful Yamaha motorbike engine.

I'm led to believe that certain engines will fit straight in without having to change the engine mounts.

However if I change the engine am I obliged to change the details on the V5?

And will this change the vehicle to a Q plate?

Obviously I'm aware that my insurance company needs to know, just wondering whether it's mandatory to notify the DVLA.

Thanks

I recall someone saying that if the engine capacity (not engine power, necessarily) changes, you should advise the doovlar.

You should change the details on the V5. I dont see why you'd get a Q plate though unless the age of the chassis is indeterminate?

Engine does not dictate registration, chassis does. No change to VIN no change to registration.

Q plate only applies if the manufacturing year of the vehicle is indeterminate at first registration.
