But, they said they couldn't get it to fit again correctly. So they've either right borked it up or attempted to fit the wrong one in the first place!

So a new one ordered

Time to find a garage who employs competent mechanics I feel!!
 
nows the time to find out if they're insured or not. if they kill your car and aren't insured you'll have to take them to court which could take forever.
 
I dont think I would be happy.....

Seems like the damaged they head while putting the valve in....or skimmed it and botched it.

Did they say whether you are paying for the head or them
