Hi chaps, does anyone know of a good resource for permanent engineering and design jobs? Google is literally littered with irrelevant recruitment agencies that don't have any useful posts.

Does The Times or any of the other newspapers run an engineering appointments section?

Times Top Companies to work for is a good start. Have a search for engineering consutancies on google. If your any good you could always try Atkins or an equivalent large company to work for.

Hi there.

If you are a member of the IET they publish a lot of engineering applications on their monthly magazine.

I personally wouldn't work for Atkins Global, but it depends what sector you are in. Our company umbrella has pulled contractors from there on many occasions purely becuase they have one of the worst reputations (documented) in engineering history.

Good luck though.

Thanks for the replies so far chaps, hadn't thought of motorsport so I'll keep an eye on that.

I think my problem with agencies is experience. Most of them specify 3 years experience which I don't have because I've been self employed, so they don't even look at my CV. Plus you're talking to non-engineers most of the time so they don't actually have a clue who they're talking to.

I've been offered a place at Qinetiq but they don't actually have a job for me at the moment and unfortunately I'm not in a position to wait. And Dyson aren't recruiting at the mo either or I'd be down there. Frustrating.
