Hi all, Some might remember my old post about me working or claiming job seekers, I'm still working so don't worry :D

Now, I want to move away from the field i work in now...that field being Dead end job into engineering, I have no GCSE's but have worked in offices since leaving school and on IT Helpdesks, I service my own car and friends cars and have never had a complaint and i enjoy doing it but have always found the electricals in the car the most fasinating and would love to design such systems so am looking into a electronic engineering course, Now looking at some websites there is not much choice for people like myself and was wondering if anyone else does one of these evening courses? Would need to be evening and except people with no GCSE's or A levels....

Looked into chemical engineer aswell as that looks very interesting but the entry requirments are crazy

Any ideas

At work (hire car company) we use to use a "Automotive Electrical Mechanic" sometimes for different problems cars had, all he did was car electronics. He was rather good and use to charge a fortune, I know he was usually busy but I can't ever remember seeing anyone else who did that sort of thing. Self-Employed.

Yeah my mate got one of these guys out to sort his Astra. The guy was really good.

I guess that could be done on a contracting basis. If you had a regular client like Porsche or Ford then you could make some serious wedge.

I think the first thing to do would be contact your local college and see what courses they offer. There are a few people on my course (Chem Eng) who started off at college and then came into 2nd year, so it can just be used as a step into a uni course.

yeah if you contact the local colleges and tell them what you told us then theyl definetly sort you out.

dont worry about lack of gcses , knowing your way around your own car for example is much more useful than say an english gcse is on an adult learning course

experience > qualifications
