Seen on the news that a lot of England fans where wasted on lager and trying to bring in WW2 and the old No surrender to the IRA shirts, some German fans werent happy but the police blocked them off.

If England meet in some of the towns with the Polish or Germanys :(

Don't believe everything you read/see, it could well have been nothing, that the press have blown out of proportion, as they try to do with every tournament.

Is just been on sky news that thousands of police in riot gear are currently being deployed in frankfurt in response to trouble on the streets.

They just showed it on sky news

erm that's DOZENS of police and this whole incident is being played down actually. the police are on standby watching over the supporters in frankfurt that is all. There are celebrations going on and one police woman was hurt by bottles being thrown as she was helping a supporter. that is bad enough of course but this is not a major incident at this point.

i do wish these things werent sensationalised this way.

i like how it has been reported that england fans rushed german fans, makes it all seem bad. but it doesnt mention that the germans were surrounding the english in a direct attempt to cause trouble.

Well that is unfortunelty something of english supporters own making. They created a reputation for themselves and it takes a long time to change that.

Well I heard that it was 18,000 England fans who charged at the Germans, the German crowd were made up with old people and small children who were all out having a fun Saturday afternoon in the sun. The nasty England fans bottled a few of them and threw bricks at the rest. Riot squads and the army have been called in to diffuse the battleground in the Frankfurt city centre. One reporter nearby the whole thing said he witnessed the wrath of the English fans, exclaiming that they had murder in their eyes and were foaming at the mouth.

English will always have the stereotype. Though this year it's probably the Germans themselves and Poles who we should be looking out for. The authorities here did their best to filter out the troublemakers and make them hand their passports in before the tournament. Around 350 didn't hand them in, but apparently their names were mentioned in airports so out of that handful not all of them managed to get to Germany.

Now the Germans themselves have a few bad apples in their crowd and since they are the home nation they can't do what English did, since all those bad "fans" already live there. They can ban them from going into the stadiums but nothing to stop them coming out the house and starting trouble outside. Also the Poles have a reputation and they are just across the border. Still any trouble kicks off that might involve even a handful of English fans and we know who's going to be the media's scapegoat.

Ahhh good ole english hooliganism as its finest....i really dont understand these idiots who seem to like ruining the game for the rest of us.

I think you will find that Dutch football supporters are just as bad if not worse. Also google around for south american violence at football matches.

And of course lets not forget Turkish fans who must rank up there with some of the worst.

In the past 10 or more years english football has made massive inroads into football associated violence.

Hooliganism is not just a English problem and we should al remember that.

Wasn't there more trouble in this country than germany, IIRC they where footy arrests here (liverpool) and some in manchester
