Seems that things are beginning to swap sides. Where once England fans were paraded as thugs and hooligans are we now beginning to see this coming to Scotland?

Living in Scotland I am constantly told about how bad England supporters are and how brilliant Scottish football supporters are. A kid and a disabled guy? Brilliant...

I think you will find it everywhere and I mean in the UK. There will always be UK based hatred of sorts particularly amongst the Celtic UK nations.

I have encountered verbal assaults from English people because I am Welsh, and yet I am still supporting England in the World Cup because as far as I am concerned they are all the UK has to offer (plus I got money on em :p ).

A few numpties in a region spouting of backside attitudes is one thing, physical violence is not acceptable.

No age, gender or creed should be attacked, its just a game and a sport. Some people take things in life far too seriously.

In the case of the 7 year old by the description of the idiot in question it sounded like he was out of his skull on either drink or drugs, which is no excuse and he is just a disgrace to Scotland.

Unfortunately you do have idiots on all sides who will bring shame to their country and the ones in question here are hopefully caught soon and dealt with. As i have been on the other side as a Scot in England and at times had to tread carefully to avoid idiots who were out to make trouble.

These people aren't Scotland fans I'm afraid, they're thugs that just happen to live up here.

Most people up here can see that England fans are getting better, there's still an element that will sully your reputation but it appears to be getting better, certainly if this world cup is anything to go by.

I hardly think this is the beginning of a sea change though, seriously. Only an idiot would see these as anything other than isolated incidents.

I second that one....you gets yobs wherever you go unfortunately!

Hey Tru....they havent been beaten yet!

Why not? I love my country and I'd be proud to wear it anywhere and god help anyone who tries to attack me. That sickens me, what a coward praying on a vulnerable disabled person and a young boy

The wee boy seems to have been attacked because of his England top but the disabled guy just happened to be wearing an England top when he was attacked.

I don't think this is something to be particularly concerned about.

How many scotsmen wearing kilts were attacked in England last year?

Nobody will have a figure for that as it wouldn't be considered racist so don't get snotty about this and start accusing us of being English hating racists.

I wouldn't fly a Saltire in England, not because I'm not proud of my country but because I know when to exercise a bit of restraint.

The guy was in a car so it was probably not obvious that he was disabled, he had a St Georges cross flying from it and was wearing an England top, that's like a red rag to a bull to certain people.

I expect there were cases of people being attacked who just happened to be wearing a kilt but none because they were wearing a kilt. ;)

It's been 2nd nature for so long, sometimes you forget that it still needs effort at times:)

Edit: Got one;)

Moved to SA, is common assault a sport now? You know, I reckon we could give England a run for their money. :D
