England Squad Announced

Good players get overlooked at smaller clubs, players who have played a handful of first team games for a big club are all of a sudden being considered for the England squad.

Obviously, this is nothing revolutionary but it's a shame really.

He's been playing well for the under 21's so it's a progressive step up. I could still see it happening if he was at Fulham, Capello is trying to give the younger players coming through some experience.

Kind of blows your theory out of the water with the likes of Henderson and Bothroyd being called up ;)

But it goes that players playing at top clubs will have European experience. That's very necessary for international level in my eyes.

Please, I doubt the guy would be able to last five minutes at international level.

and you know this how? Hes already been called up once but didnt get pitch time. When bigger clubs have been after him for a while now. Infact i would say if he was one of the big 4 he would be in the squad today no doubt about it.

Shawcross is one of the best young CB in this country even if you dont like it.

Maybe your right and he isnt international quality HOW WILL WE KNOW UNTILL HE IS PICKED AND PLAYED!! He can also chose to play for wales if he wants id suggest to him not wasting his time with England now,

Shawcross is a really good player from the stoke games i have been to and the games i have watched.
How he isnt in the team at all is beyond me...
How Barry/Milner and Cole are in the England team is also wierd although they have played a lot this year and have played for England before they haven't done anything worthy of a place imo.

Even if I don't like what? Big club has nothing to do whether I like it or not, looking at the current state I still feel sorry for Scott Parker for example.

Shawcross' technical abilities in my eyes always been a bit dire. Add the fact I've seen poor temperament as well I stand by both reasons that he wouldn't make it at international level. There's no big hard or fast at that level as we all know - he just won't last unless as I said before there's a massive change from the player.

If he was at a big 4 club is a quite a statement considering he didn't make it at one earlier on in his career. There are loads of ex-Arsenal players around different clubs in the EPL, and not want to be derogatory to them but most of them are at their level now. No shame in that at all. You say he's been linked back to one of them but gotta say I've not not heard anything more concrete rather than noises from Stoke fans.

Another one for Shawcross in the team, very good player and a top lad off the pitch.

Gary Cahill should be in there as well I think.

Capello said he was going to be trying younger/different players, since the "established" players, obviously aren't good enough. That is exactly the reason why the likes of Smalling has been chosen. Not because he's lost it, or he think's hes better than the others; Purely because he needs to try younger players.

If he went with the standard squad, you'd all still going potty because he's not trying anything different. Basically, while ever he is the Manager of England, he IS in the wrong, even when he is doing nothing wrong.

He probably knows that he'll end up picking Shawcross at some stage, may as well try out some other alternatives.

Yeah, tabloid guff (Daily Mirror apparently the rumours all stem from?) doesn't pass as 'being linked with'.

Read the gossip section on the Beeb and all sorts have been said on there. Doesn't mean there's one ounce of truth in almost all of it. ;)
