England's 23-man squad:
Robinson (Tottenham), Foster (Man Utd, on loan at Watford), Carson (Liverpool, on loan at Charlton); G Neville (Man Utd), Richards (Man City), Ferdinand (Man Utd), Terry (Chelsea, capt), Woodgate (Real Madrid, on loan at Middlesbrough), Carragher (Liverpool), A Cole (Chelsea), P Neville (Everton); Gerrard (Liverpool), Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Lampard (Chelsea), Lennon (Tottenham), Parker (Newcastle), Carrick (Man Utd), Dyer (Newcastle), Downing (Middlesbrough); Johnson (Everton), Rooney (Man Utd), Defoe (Tottenham), D Bent (Charlton).
so you know yer first choice left back is unavailable for the first game and that yer second choice is injured, so who you gonna call, Jamie Carragher to play left back
Dont get me wrong carragher deserves to be in the squad and probably deserves on recent performances to be starting in central defence, my point is does it not make sense to call up well a left back ?
Now to start on the midfiled selections. 6 Central midfielders ? and two wingers ? what mclaren playing at, smacks totally of I cant leave my big names out syndrome.
Gerrard / Hargreaves / Lampard / Carrick or Parker for central midfiled
Lennon / Wright Philips / Downing and soemone like Barry for the wings, makes a much more balanced squad as opposed to the old playing square pegs in round holes.
safe to say unless the matches are being shown on ITV / BBC I'll not be watching.
