English League & F.A. Cup Football [19th - 24th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

Tbh Pen or not makes no different we have 80mins to put in an effort and try something new we didnt we lost played bad thats it >.<

Pains me to say it UTD were better than us today

No in the area he had one final tug on him before releasing, he obviously stopped raping him in the area because he didn't want to give away a pen

Rather than going through the whole 'yes he was', 'no he wasn't' process, we'll just agree to disagree.

It makes a difference. Morale of both teams changes, attitudes of both teams changes, maybe even tactics change. Torres might have played a lot better otherwise :o

He wasn't being held inside the area though

Or are you just responding to skippi's post rather than the incident today.

More to the post. It was a questionable pen but we are talking about a few inch's- very hard to blame that on the ref/lineman. What liverpool fans really should be questioning is why no defender is coming to meet a UTD player that is running into the box.

Yeah it looks to me like Mascherano is still holding him when they move into the area.

And as a result it's a pen. There was something similar for Rooney and England. It's not where the foul started, refs disgression and the foul continued into the box.

Liverpool fans can harp on about it. I didn't think there was much between the two sides, united edged it performance wise. Gerrard looked much better in the middle of the park.

How dare you be sensible and mature in a football thread !!

This forum is strictly for blood spitting tribal frenzy ! You cant just come in here being all amicable about things !

Well for what they get paid and what any team is fighting for in our case 4th as its all we can fight for in the prem atm and to get one up over our biggest rivals and put a dint in their title challenge what more determination do you need?

Regarding Torres he to me is one of the best strikers in the world and when on full form and fitness the best however he does for us and his own good need to control this temper he has been getting in the last few games.

Hats off to Park, despite fluffing or not controlling the ball multiple times during the game, he took that header brilliantly. Vidic and Ferdinand looked more assured as the game progressed.

I agree with Baz, I thought the referee was poor overall, he should have sent Carragher off and could have sent Torres off for being a whiny spiteful brat.

Carragher was in a position to do so however Mascherano had already commited the foul.

You can argue that Masch shouldn't have pulled him back but it's not abnormal for a player to take a booking and give away a free-kick outside the box in that sort of position.

As for it only being a matter of inches; fair enough however when the decision leads to a goal then it's pretty normal to have some complaints, especially when the same ref has cost you points in previous games already this season.

Apart from our left side, which was absolutely appalling all game, I didn't think we did a lot wrong today. Right team won but had Torres finished either of the two chances he had in the box then we could've easily come away with a draw or even a win. Having said that, a draw would've been no good anyway and the loss all but ends our hopes of fourth.

Regarding the penalty, I thought the foul was outside the box but Mascherano gave the ref the opportunity to give it and he did. I'm more annoyed with Agger than Mascherano. He could've easily blocked him and given away a free kick rather than pull away completely.

Gerrard with another one of his captains performances :o

Edit: Concerned about Johnson. He looked woefully short of pace and doesn't look anywhere near fit enough to be playing.

I agree with Webb being poor, I thought he didn't have a good game. The foul by Neville was just daft not to give that.
