Ok guys I need to ask for some help...

Im trying to translate something into english and its hard to make it sound good...Its for a friends tattoo so it needs to sound decent and smooth..

Basically its along the lines of 'after a sweet moment has passed, pain remains for a long time'...

Something alone those lines but which actually sounds good...The words can be changed as long as the meaning remains similar..

Can anyone suggest anything?

Ive got this so far but it still sounds kinda weird :/

Once a sweet moment has passed, the pain lasts much longer

Please help :)

Any combination of 'sweet' and 'moment' just doesn't sound right to me but you could maybe rhyme 'pain' with 'remain/s' in the second bit.

edit: ^that's a good effort up there

Original:

Once a sweet moment has passed, the pain lasts much longer

Reworded:

Once you have sobered up, the divorce procedings are still there.

The sweetness may last for the briefest moment, but, conversely, the pain that stems from such a moment can, and usually will, last considerably longer, probably for life. A tattoo is the opposite because the pain is over in a moment but you're left with sweet ink forever.
