I am planning to rent a van through Enterprise Rent-a-van, no less. I just wanted to make sure that no one had any horror stories of using these guys before i hand them £350

(£100 for the rental, £250 deposit)

I've used them through work before and they were **** when it came to collecting the van. Took them over a week to fetch it, god knows if we were charged for it or not but I wasn't happy about having 2 transits parked outside my house when mine came back from the garage.

I used the Leeds and Swindon ones 2 or 3 times. No problems at all. Very competitive prices. Wouldn't have thought you'd have a problem with pickup as you have to return the car/van back to the depot if its a private rental.

If anything, they have problems with the renters, not the other way round. The manager was telling me they've had cars where renters have tried to steal the car or engine parts from the car by replacing them with used parts!

Excellent, i'm just paranoid about them screwing me over on the deposit. I mean it'll be a full sized transit van that i will be using to do a whistle stop tour of the south coast picking up my girlfriend's stuff, then my stuff from my parents, then my furniture from my house, all to take back to 'our' house.

I just dont want them being like "oh theres a small mark there, that'll be £50" on the inside of a ******* tranny!

Worked for them whilst I was at Uni, unless you covered the inside in paint we weren't fussy about scratches and chips inside. They keep the vans for much longer than the cars so they generally aren't mint anyway.

If you worried about the van being marked, you can pay a nominal extra premium over the standard CDW and have a £0 excess in the event of any damage. That would be what I'd recommend.

The van's inspected before you take it out and you have to sign against the diagram showing any damage, so make sure it's a clear day and you put any marks down against the diagram which you're signing.

The exercise then gets repeated when you return the van though they're not really bothered if you've paid the £0 excess damage premium.
