I wish to connect both of my machines to my new Netgear 834. As it it wires (I wont go wireless) I am assuming that I need some sort of internal card for the ethernet cables? Whats the best ethernet card to buy for both machines?

it doesn't really matter, i've found realtek based cards (usually available from under a fiver) to be pretty good for general use.
Just remember to get a 10/100 card.

Check your motherboard/systems don't already have ethernet/network connections already though, as it seems 90% of new motherboards from the past couple of years have them.

Both of my machines are older than that, which would explain my need for cards in both the machines. Im just a noob and dont want to go buying the wrong add-in card and looking like an idiot. Is there a link someone could post to a good ethernet card sold here? I assume if I bought an ethernet card for both, they could individually plug into the Netgear 834?

Any of the cards here should do the job nicely :)

The d-link card at the bottom of the page is probably the best bet unless your router/switch is gigabit capable (as the gigabit cards are £5+ more).

But as I say, virtually any 10/100 card should do it :)
