ethernet question related to gaming

4 cables 2 feet , 5 metres , 10 , 15 metres,

on the longest you can tell although not too bad or anything to cry about there is a slight noticeable effect. as i have varying cables as the op asked i thought id comment sorry for wasting anyones time .

dont care what anyone tells you a longer the cable it will have a effect over a shorter one. maybe the cables they have bend time.

look i have 4 different lengths of cable right now connected to my routers and i can tell between them when playing.

so it doesnt make a difference ok.

use common sense , shorter distance travelled shorter response.

Oh dear... I think you need to go and learn some physics.

Your last sentence is true, however it would be such a tiny fraction of a second, you wouldn't be able to notice it and I doubt your PC would either. ;)

Loool :D Does the moon affect your balance? :p

haha nice one ;) but it is proven that longer cables make a difference . no matter how slight. more distance equals more time no matter how cleverly you argue.

Theres no clever arguing here, the fact is, those cable lengths are not noticeabley enough longer. You would need to ge for several hundreds of kilometres for it to even begin to be noticeable.

http://www.numion.com/calculators/Distance.html

Latency (milliseconds) =
1000 * Distance / 299792.458 (Thats for kilometres)

0.5/299792.458 = .00000166 ms
15 / 299792.458 = .00005003 ms.

Yes, thats right. Its so completely small that it is to every intent and purpose, instant.

Can you tell what torch was turned on first if it was 15m and 0.5m away and the buttons were pressed at exactly the same time?

I'm using a 10 metre long phone cable feeding into my router, don't know about ethernet cable but there hasn't been any difference from being in the same room as the phone socket :D

does a longer cable make any difference in speed yes or no ? = yes ! no matter how clever you argue . it maybe slight but it does take longer. nice arguements though :D

You don't seem to be getting that we're all agreeing with you, technically speaking. But there's no NOTICABLE difference.

does a longer cable make any significant difference in speed yes or no ? = no ! no matter how clever you argue . it may make a difference but it so slight it's imperceptible. nice arguements though :D

You stated earlier that you could tell the difference in latency between different length cables. You can't. Therefore I demand you admit you are wrong and full of poop.
