Since dental work in this country is a complete con i'm debating whether to get some work done in Europe. There's lots of adverts about cheaper treatment especially from eastern europe, which would cost me £500 compared to £1600 for an implant to replace a tooth i lost last year.

Has anyone used them before? my current dentist said they're not so good because they rush treatment that should be done over a period of 6 months, however since he needs to pay for the shiny new BMW 8 series in his driveway i think he may have ulterior motives :o

Any good or bad stories please?

Your dentist must be really rich if he can afford a time machine to buy a brand new 8 series. ;)

I've only had experience of German dentists, and they seem as expensive as over here.

hmm not sure in Belgium they seem reasonable enough you'd probaby pay in euros what you pay in sterling.

Again haven't a clue how much they charge for that kind of work though.

Pull them all out ! Dentures *** :D:D:D

No more money, time off for appointments, or pain and always look great ! Even better if your ladyfriend has them as well ;);)

Hmmmmm I wonder how much ?? :p

troublemaker :p...maybe it's an old style 8 series, didn't realise there was a new one...however point still stands that he's rich enough already ;)

£1600 for ONE implant?

My old dentist quoted me £2000, he said it was the same price as an Arsenal season ticket but lasts for a lifetime instead of 9 months, i replied that i can't afford an Arsenal season ticket either so its irrelevant.

Apparently Hungary is very popular for this, though I couldn't give you any figures, not having had first hand experience (Though I am currently considering it).

I remember driving from Vienna to somewhere just over the Hungarian border (Soprom, I think), and the road on the way in to the country is lined with dentists on each side. It's supposedly a very popular option with Austrians, as dental treatment there is fiendishly expensive, and can't be so bad if it's as common as it seems. Well, maybe :p

I also worked with a Hungarian woman over the summer, who was over in Britain for 8 months touring with an entertainment company. She'd had a painful tooth problem for months, but was waiting to get back to Hungary to be treated due to the astonishing difference in prices, simply couldn't afford to have it looked at over here after she got an estimate.

I can't offer any more than anecdotes I'm afraid, but it could be worth looking in to.

Only had dental treatment in France... was covered by my insurance and the welfare system, so didn't cost me a penny. The level of quality was incomparable to that in the UK. My British dentist isn't even ½ as good as my French dentist was, and the equipment is nowhere near as advanced, yet it costs much more.
