Busy getting through Borderlands, and it's an odd experience. Sometimes I find myself having a bit of fun, but other times I find it to be a bit of a chore.

Other game I had this with recently was Too Human. Though with that I gave up. Game had so much potential, but was just a bit poo really.

There have been other games in the past which I have played for some time, only to eventually question whether or not I was actually enjoying it or was just playing for the sake of it.

Anyone ever find themselves in this situation? Are you always sure you are having fun rather than playing for the sake of it?

Yes suffering that with Assasins Creed 2 at the moment. Some moments are epic and I'm really enjoying the game then shortly after I'mleft cold by it.

Yeah GTA 4 oscillates between fun, mundane and....experiential, to say the least, while I play. Never happened before to me - normally a game is good or bad.

had the same experience with borderlands, you just felt like you were doing too much running around with a poor storyline and not really any good sound or music going on.

Mine was Fallout 3, loved the whole targeting and blowing peoples heads off but navigating through the underground and city was very fustrating early in the game and was close to binning it off and missing all the rest of a great game

Ditto for Borderlands, after playing Fallout 3 it just seems floppy and mundane. F3 did apocolyptia/Mad Max-esque action much better. More of an engaging story line too, which is probably why Borderlands feels so disconnected and pointless in places.

Usually have this for driving games like GT or Forza just gets tedious going through all the races sometimes.

Also in RPGs while grinding (levelling up) can become very tiresome!

Yes! I have this currently with Assassins Creed and Borderlands. So my solution is to just switch between both :p

Also felt this way with Dragon Age. It was so cool playing a warrior with the combat style and the pausing but after getting to that 2nd town it became a bit too repetitive for me and I gave it up. It was fun to be able to control all party members but after a while it just became annoying for me.

Had that as well, to the point where I traded it in then rebought it when I realised I missed the MP too much. Got the DLC for it as well which helped.

Clocked through Prince of Persia on the PS3 over Christmas, by the end I was glad to finally complete a game post WoW addiction, but was a bit tired of the repetition. Having ignored so many games in the 5 years I've been playing WoW, I'm happy to put up with a bit of ambivalence from time to time.

i had this with GTA4, really never got into it properly, i keep putting it off though as i really want to get into it but ive grown out of the running around killing people for no reason.

Also fifa10 ive got grimsby to the prem but i want a couple of trophys so i have to keep playing.

Finally batman:aa i completed the SP but i need to do the challenges to get 100% and i loved the sp but the chalenges seem a bit dull & repetative

I found this with Unreal Tournameant 3, all the ones before it were excelent but UT3 just felt like it was missing something it get as an average 10 min play once in a blue moon

I just read this thread title as

"Ever fondle yourself when you're enjoying a game?"

Pretty bad really considering...its nothing like that!
