eVGA 680i and memory slots 3 & 4

Can you use memory slots 3 & 4 without using slots 1 & 2 first?

I've just ordered an IFX-14 and it won't fit if my flex xlc memory is installed in the first 2 slots.

Will it work in the 2nd two slots with the first 2 being empty?

Yes, but on my Asus you use slots 1&3 or 2&4 to get Dual Channel Mode (slots are Same Colour)
