EVGA 680i vs P5W DH Delux

I have the P5W DH at the moment but am thinking of upgrading to the EVGA 680i.

My question is, would the 680i overclock my E6600 better than my P5W @ 3.4GHz?

Not really, pointless swap if you ask me. I would go for a P35 motherboard if you have to upgrade.

I am thinking of swapping because I am on hacked drivers with my sli!
I want to move to Vista after putting it on my laptop so its either mobo or gfx, and with no true DX10 cards around yet I think it would be better, and cheaper, to change mobo, stick with sli, then change the gfx when I am happy the 'proper' DX10 cards are out!

The money I save would also go to upping my ram to 4GB and getting 64bit Vista.

I don't use raid, on board wireless,firewire, sound and have an IDE DVDR drive if that helps?!!

It is a good chipset, and I think the EVGA is the best of them, but I would be tempted to sell your motherboard and your 2 gfx cards and buy a P35 DS3 and a 8800 GTS.

Not over keen on the gigabytes as had an old one and it clocked like a dog!
Are the new ones much better?
Can you run the RAM out of sync like the 680i boards?

The DS3s I believe are the most popular motherboards that OCuk sell. They clock really well.

You can run the RAM out of sync, but not slower than the FSB like you can on the 680i. Something to bear in mind.

With the DS3's you can't run the memory out of sync like you can with the 680i or RD600, they just have dividers like your P5WDH. Its just the dividers on the P5WDH dont work very well.

Ive just swapped my P5WDH for a P5K standard, and its got my E2160 running over 3.5ghz and all the memory dividers work great.

The Asus P5K non deluxe version. Ive done the quick pencil mod to get rid of the vdroop and saved £55 over the deluxe version which has the same option in the bios.
