EVGA 8800GT - did anyones ship today ?

Hi there

We can't please everyone.

Also OcUK are generally the quickest at getting stuff out except this week we've been so swamped due to such a huge increase in business we've fallen a little behind with some of orders, but will be back on track for tomorrow due too staff putting in extra hours today.

Fact is with the 8800 GT NVIDIA brough this launch forward by three weeks but by doing that stock is incredibly short, a small amount of stock has been spread around and unfortunately everywhere is running out. Basically NVIDIA wanted to do a hard launch to look good. The real truth is they have done a hard launch with hardly no product availability and as such many places run out all most immediately.

Thanks Gibbo for the update - I was only trying to find out whats going on.

I appreciate that you're at the sharp end of others decisions/promises and dont want to disappoint - but I put a webnote in and tried to ring but got no answer to the first and gave up after 3 mins of ring-ring on the 2nd - information in such cases is key. Hope to see responses/activity/results tomorrow.

M.

hi there expecting my card to turn up tomorrow be well pleased if it does a bfg dogga :) Never owned a nividia card before so got my fingers crossed:D

sadly the BFG cards have had to be taken back in for spot checks where the circutes were fryed due to being subjected to static electricity without them knowing until a few of the batch were tested. Looking at a few more weeks.

Hi there

EVGA due anyday I will try to secure date and find out if they shipped Superclocked or Reference first. Last time I spoke to EVGA they mentioned the first batch of cards had fantastic yields and as such were considering in launching the Superclock on the first batch but since then I've had no contact mainly due to been rushed of my feet. I shall find out tomorrow and update ETA's on the website as necessary.

That’s what I did not want to hear as I have ordered the non overclocked version. :(

I was hoping Nvidia (and ATI for that matter!) had learned their lesson after the 6800Ultra/X800XT fiasco, which couldn't have been more of a paper launch if you folded up a copy of The Times and threw it out the office window. With the gf7 and ealier gf8 hard launches we seemed to have moved forwards with plenty of stock available from day 1 but sadly not the case this time.

I can only imagine that ATI sneaking that 2900pro out there for ~£160 put the frightners on them and hence they decided to bring forward the 8800GT launch to trump the competition.

No complaints over Nvidia's hard launch but then thats becuase my OcUK sourced BFG 8800GT OC is sitting in a Citylink depot as I type this ;)

If we get an ETA on the EVGA cards being late by quite some time, would it be possible to swap the order? (Asus please)

Surely this isn't anything like a repeat of the 6800/X800 supply problems. You might wait a little few days to get an 8800GT, but there are still a lot of cards to be had. Unless you were exceptionally lucky, you'd have waited several months to get hold of an X800XT and maybe a few weeks for the 6800 Ultras.

I have the same feeling. Gutted I didn't select one of the BFGs :(.

(So, who stole the lorry load of EVGA cards?)

I ordered two different cards (not here), and cancelled the one that did not ship first. Even if they had shipped at the same time, I could have just returned one under Distance Trading and lost a few quid for return postage.

Pre-orders are nearly always a gamble. Things that are on planes, trains and ships are subject to delays. You also never know how many people are in the queue infront of you, or how many are expected to arrive.

I think they were mis-directed to the US. On Monday the EVGA's and XFX cards were everywhere. Although they did sell out quite fast due to the overwhelming demand. My EVGA SC 8800GT is arriving tomorrow. I'm sure they'll show-up here soon however since Gibbo is all over it.
