Want the fastest card available than can be made to run near silent so either 8800gtx or 8800ultra with HR-03 plus & 92mm fan, but don't want to be ripped off when a new card comes out in say two months or so, so I could either go with the BFG 8800 GTX OC2 or the EVGA GeForce 8800 Ultra SuperClocked SILENT then use the STEP up program to upgrade to newer card..., what do you all think?, will the warranty be void if I replace the cooler?, any warranty stickes on the EVGA card as I would probably stick the stock cooler back on when I send back to EVGA, will they notice I removed the cooler?, also any ever used the step up program?..

Will be gaming at 1680*1050, so everything on max/ultra in Lost Planet, 16XAF, 6XAA, not sure if this card will cope with it, despite what people say, so want to be future proof, hence the EVGA step up.., if the step up won't work is it worth paying the £80 extra for the Ultra over the GTX?, will I notice much of an improvement? will not be overclocking card...

It might struggle but it wont be the cards fault, the games poorly coded and a DX10 wannabe.

I struggled at 1600x1200 @ Nvidia driver and ingame settings maxed as far as they let me with that game (DX9) but I had dodgy mobo that later fried (was laggy since build weeks before), they are buggy console ports though as stated above and that was before any patches came out.
