hey guys currently got a asus striker but having problems with it locking up in bios and doesnt always boot with two sticks of ram in, iv updated the bios and still nothing but problems, so should i get a replacement striker and maybe get the same ram problems or try the evga 680i? not sure which is the better motherboard as they are almost the same price.

cheers

I will be on my third Striker now, seems to be just luck of the draw. I would probably give it one last chance then go for another brand. Nothing to lose if you RMA them :)

It sounds like you're just one of the unlucky 680i owners (join my club?) :) I'm just about to RMA my third BFG 680i. From what I've read, 680i quality seems very hit and miss, although I've read about fewer Strikers going wrong than BFGs or EVGAs. It might be you've just been incredibly unlucky or the problem is elsewhere. Have you tried memtest86+ to exclude your memory?

Was in the middle of installing vista last night and while i was installing all my stuff and rebooted it hasnt posted since, tried taking a stick of ram out but still it wont boot and not all case fans are spinning...Is the striker the better board?

cheers

edit, swapping ram about its let me boot with one stick installed....what is going on!

It has let me boot with just one stick too sometimes (rather than the 4 I have). It has some serious problems under the bonnet highlighted when something goes wrong but when it works it's good. Fingers crossed my third won't self destruct.

i did have Reaper pc 8500 ram in mine to start of with ( ram set to 2.2v) and it they fryed within 36hours i was'nt even hitting ddr2 800 at that stage, then i put in some Crucial Ballistix PC8500 next day all was fine fro about 3 and abit weeks then the boad died yesterday morning when i came to swiched on "--" error code the p5k D i put in this morning seems to be running fine so far.
