Ex-Graduate account overdraft, im having trouble clearing

I was hearing the news of tuition fees and feeling bad for students going to university these days.

Then I read this.

Maybe a graduate with a 9k loan, multiple credit cards, multiple overdrafts, £30k's worth of debt and avoiding any type of repayment might suit you?

Im just glad that mine is only £2k

But I still would like it gone.

Im in a slightly similar boat.

I have around 2.5K of a credit card balance.

I have moved it onto a 12 month interest free card, and have set up a direct debit each month of £250 into a seperate account.

At the end of everymonth i move any money from my current account into my savings account so i start each month with a clean slate.

Then i put all the savings account money into premium bonds.

In 12 months time i will have enough money to pay off my credit card balance with the possibility of having more.

And make no contributions to my savings?

seems abit daft really

4-5 months to clear overdraft, but then make no contributions to my savings, or

8-9 months to clear, and contribute £400 per month to savings

Savings I need for a car unfortunatly, as my car is nearing 161k on the clock.

Sorry but it is basic maths - even reduce to £200 per month to put to loan repayment, the drop in interest on the money you save will far outway the interest on overdraft.

100% agree with LordSplodge.

They should really teach basic personal finance at school
