Exhaust Gas Recycle (EGR)

I've heard stories about the EGR working for the first 5 minutes then just cloging the engine up after that. I know I've got on my 306 and wondered whether it's worth disconnecting it or just leaving it?

Anyone done it before?

Mines in there and shall be taking it off tomorrow and cleaning it because they get like this

Well the Inlet Manifold gets pretty cogged with a nice carbon build up aswell
