So if you have to bench 350 to vote and being swole means you vote Tory, then what do you have to bench to be a Tory MP? Theresa May must be a machine at the gym.

He said nothing of the sort.

I saw his press conference when it was breaking news yesterday.

To quote one source:

https://www.theguardian.com/politic...truggled-with-questions-over-his-christianity

Untarnished by the coalition, leader never recovered from questions over his beliefs and attitude to gay sex and abortion

Farron was asked whether he believed, as a Christian, that the act of homosexual sex was a sin and replied “to understand Christianity is to understand that we are all sinners”.

Farron was defiant that he could not compromise his faith, even for the party he loved

As I said previously, it appears he felt he couldn't maintain his homophobia & intolerance and continue to lead a Liberal party.

At least he's honest, I'll give him that.

Whatever Boris can bench is the standard, heard he does 500 without straps, Theresa is excluded as it's only mens strength questioned in that article :(

It's actually to do with brain Chemisty i think rather than physical make up. Basically, back in the day when we were hunter gatherers, the leaders of the tribe would be the ones looking out for the whole group and leading them, those are your right wingers.
Nonsense.

It's correlation, not causation.

It's down to perception of fear. Right wingers are more fearful of the world than left-wingers. Similarly gym-bunnies are more fearful of the world so resort to becoming physically strong.

Nonsense? How is it nonsense? Did you read the daily mail article? Do you think someone who is more fearful would be better at looking after the group than something who isn't as fearful?

The article makes little mention of what you've said above, the link was made between upper body strength and their political views.

Is there any research on gym bunnies who go there everyday in correlation to their IQ levels?

I unfortunately watched Love island yesterday and noticed the physically fit seemed dumb

But it goes further than that, it's chemistry in the brain as well, naturally.

the study actually said:
"Specifically, men with greater upper-body strength should more strongly favor redistribution if they are poor but oppose it if they are wealthy. [...] First, for males of low [socioeconomic status], physical strength should positively correlate with support for redistribution; second, for males of high [socioeconomic status], physical strength should negatively correlate with support for redistribution"

It doesn't say that they are more likely to be right wing, just that they are more likely to support politics that help them rather than others. Strong men are self-interested. Which is no surprise when you consider the narcissism and self-consciousness of your average gym monkey.

Where does that new scientist article mention strength?

This is all OT anyway. As if anyone here does not believe that the DM articles like that do anything but pander to its readers and agendas.

There's loads of articles out there about it. Strong men aren't self interested at all, would you say the Army are self interested men?

That doesn't support what you've said above, it's not down to me to google what you post to find evidence either.

huh? how does that not support brain chemisty?

Just do the maths, physical men who are disgusted easier. It's a classical case of the leaders in the group. A rat which is 10% bigger than it's counter part will win 90% of fights, the people who won fights were the leaders, add in the fear aspect of looking on the horizon for enemies and you have leaders who are looking out for the group.
