not necessarily true, they sort of represent the combined knowledge of the participants (albeit with rather different weightings assigned to it) - though I did look before the swings were announced and they were still pricing in a majority... odds have shortened a bit now and have got up to 3.4 for no overall majority

point is that is in contrast to the exit polls which predict the opposite

The exit poll is only one piece of information.

The other pieces of information is the 2015 general election and the Brexit vote.

The exit poll could suggest a labour majority and the markets won't believe it completely. Similarly it may not believe a large conservative majority either.

When I heard she called an election I came up with this analogy:

There was a Lady called Theresa who had a rich uncle. Uncle owned an expensive Bentley. Uncle recently died and left expensive Bentley to Theresa.

One day Theresa feels like she needs some excitement in her life and walks in to her local pub.

She puts the keys to the Bentley on the bar table and announces to the bar that she will challenge anyone to a game of heads up poker.

If she wins she gets to keep the Bentley. If the challenger wins they get to keep the Bentley.

Everyone thought that it was a no lose situation so they all took up the challenge.

The results of said heads up game will be announced today.

---

If she's not losing the car she is at least gonna have to share the car.

Silly Theresa!
