Expensive mistakes you've made because of stupidity

Trying to put a plastic connector over the faston crimp on the end of a cable was way to stiff an not going on, should have just reported it but i thoguht i could do it pushed harder and ended up tearing the heatshrink with my thumb nail.

£800 call out and about 2 k in consesion costs.

.

Why did it cost so much to fix a cable?

Lifting an engine out of a car the other week with the crane, being careful not to scratch his nicely painted rocker cover.
Put the engine carefully on the engine stand and undid all the lifting straps..

Right then, now I just need to put the stand nearer the workbench....
OHh SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.......

I'd forgotten to put the locating pin to stop the stand from rotating,
Queue the engine rotating at speed upside down and landing hard on it's rocker cover..
Sheepishly get boss out of the office to help me lift it back upright
"Hope I haven't damaged it.." I say..
Yea right!!
Not only smashed the rocker cover but put a bloody great crack in it.
Broke a coil lead or two
Broke the dizzy cap..

:(
£50 for another rocker cover off eBay
£40 to get it painted to match the original
£40 for a lead set
£20 for a dizzy cap...

and now because the parts to rebuild it have been on back order for way too long the customer decided to buy a second hand engine instead... Which is going to have all the parts I broke on it,, FML

Not quite sure why I have either. :D My 5 works perfectly well with no issues
£260 wasted . :-/
WHY DO WE DO IT!

Well, more than that assuming you are paying a silly amount of money for a tarrif (on the basis of the purchase price of your iPhone 6) :p

1st job I had was in tesco. 1st day on the job the manager asked me to take a pallet of ice cream to the back up freezer. No problemo

5/6hrs later a call goes out asking all shop floor staff to go to the warehouse. Pallet of ice cream sitting in the middle of the warehouse :( I had taken it to the fridge instead of the freezer and it all had to be dumped :D

Spent £30 signing for a football team. Dislocated my shoulder 5 mins in first game.
When I used to spend £40 or whatever for games, and then see them for £7 in no time.

Not me personally but my other half has had an eventful year.

Crashed car £500 in excess. 5 weeks temp insurance on my other car £100. £120 in awareness course and £70 in a days missed wages.

Total £790 which could have been avoided if she had waited 5 minutes for her window to defrost. She is not entirely to blame as I learnt my lesson ramping up excess to get a cheaper quote.

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!!!

Not my mistake, but I watched a man on a motorbike overtake me at over 100mph.

You can guess the rest, that was the most expensive mistake you can get.

PS his head was mush in his helmet.
