Experience with Elephant or Admiral insurance?

Been with Bell for years. Always been the cheapest for me, and only added about £20 to my policy for a non standard exhaust.

The renewal quotes are always a joke though, but the usual call to them after doing an online quote gets an instant price match.

I've not had a claim through them, but they have been informed of 2 claims I made against other people, and even though they were both down as information only with absolutely no involvement from them at all, they still bumped my premium because of them. And they were also adimant that I had died, or atleast suffered major injuries, as they pushed for a personal injury claim both times.

Overall though, been fine, and cheapest.

I've been using admiral for about 5 years with no issues at all either, they're usually either the cheapest, or only a few pounds dearer than the cheapest quotes I can find, making it unnecessary to change.

Only thing is when I sell the MX-5 I'm gonna miss DOC unless I can find another company that gives it (or the HIC will give me a competitive price to insure the Mondeo) :(

What I can tell you about Admiral is that their Customer Service is just excellent.
UK call centres for a start - immediately there is no language barrier.

Not sure about that, every time I've spoken to Elephant they've been Welsh! ;)

Seriously though, my experience with Elaphant (I've unfortunately had more than a couple of instances) has been excellent.

Best example was writing my car off the day before I went on holiday (was due to drive from Teesside to Manchester airport). They had an appropriately sized car on my doorstep ready to go to the airport, and sorted out all of my claim during my 2 week holiday. When I came home, they called me and agreed my claim fee, and within 8 days I'd been paid (cleared funds), bought (and re-insured) my new car.

Top banana.

Oh, and fun fantasy football league too!http://elephant.fantasyleague.com/Team.aspx?p=68178

OK, fair comment.
I've also spoken to a Geordie and an Irish lass, so there is a "slight" language barrier :)

On the couple of occasions I've spoken to them they have been polite and extremely helpful, could not fault them at all.

Thankfully I've not had to make a claim so cannot coment on this side of things, but dealing with them has been very easy.

Everytime i've called (about half a dozen times since I took out the policy, usually to make a change to my policy such as usage type) it has been an Indian/Pakistani on the other end of the phone. They are always very helpful and polite but there has been once or twice where i've not been able to understand them very well.

Which department are you talking to where the centre is UK based?

Admiral gave me DOC on TPFT. Contacted them after I destroyed a wall and they were very helpful. Nobody has claimed so far so I've not had to deal with them that much.

Im with Bell who are the same group, can't fault them, great price and I can drive any other car on my 3rd party policy, called them to change car last year and spoke to a very helpful Scottish lady.

I'm currently with Elephant. Haven't had any issues but haven't had to claim. If you don't take all the extra's with the policy expect a few calls afterwards. I got the impression it was a sales dept trying to talk you into taking the extra's.

I've had both of them, didn't experience any probs either time. Elephant win tho as their call centre people are called Elephant Handlers which made me giggle. I'm a bit stupid like that.

Just been sorting out insurance last night for a car. First decent quote i got was with RAC, but when it got to the bit about 3yr license renewal, price nigh on doubled.
Rang Admiral who i had my last policy with, told them about the 3yr renewal and they just said, "no problem. We'll make a note on insurance details" & price stayed the same.
More than happy, plus no hassle with my NCB since they had all the info.

I had a numpty take out my door last June and it wasn't fixed until December due to Admiral losing paperwork on more than one occasion. To be fair though, their customer service staff were good.

I have just renewed with them despite the hike in premium. They're still around £300 cheaper with a much lower excess than the next best quote.

Admiral are consistently the cheapest for me. Whenever i've had any phone dealings with them they have been straight forward and easy.

Elephant have been cheapest for me for years also had one claim go through with them took a few goes to get the money I wanted but was still all sorted within 4/5 weeks which doesnt seem too bad for a write off payout

Sales dept are based in swansea, cardiff and newport
renewals dept based in swansea, cardiff and halifax to cover the last two hours of opening times
customer services based in swansea, cardiff and bangalore

so the majority are based in wales but they outsource a bit to deal with overflow of calls and late night calls

I've been with Elephant for the past 3 years, even if their quote didn't come up cheapest they would happily match and even offer discounts for the extras (hire car, personal injury cover). Very happy with the £375 renewal price last month and the staff are very friendly when having to renew/make changes.
Touch wood I haven't had to claim yet though so can't comment on that.
