Hey all,

I'm on Virgin Media and I have moved my PC from one room to another and need to move my router to another room. I need to get a longer cable to go from the wall socket to the cable modem so we can route it through the loft and back down again but don't know what type of cable it is? I'm talking about the thick white one with the screw in connectors.

Can anyone help identify the type and tell me where to get a length of it?

Thanks

Russ

its coax cable, emm competitors name would be used if I told you, but im sure a certain garden/diy shop also sells it.

Can you not just leave the router where it is and get a longer ethernet cable ? Probably cheaper too

Give VM a call and ask them to send you a long cable, i had a 'discussion' with them a while ago because i needed a longer cable after moving things around. They said that they won't do it because it deviates from the installation engineers initial route/recomendation.

I then informed them that i installed it myself, they just sent me the cables which were a standard length. Couple of days later an engineer called round and cut me a nice long length of cable.
