I'm been re-reading my Pratchett collection, this time in a kindle app.

But i've just got to one of the books (Going postal) and there are whole pages of text that i've never seen before

Am i going mad or do the paperback have some text cut out? (are electronic versions the "directors cut"?)

It's rare for books to be cut as such.

However sometimes they get edited slightly differently for one market or another (usually just the odd word is replaced), or if it's part of an ongoing series one book might have a few pages/chapter that is in say the UK version, but not the US version, and instead the US edition of the next book would have that chapter (IIRC the Nights Dawn Trilogy had a bit from the end of the second book chopped off and put in the third book for the US editions*).

What bits are changed?
It could just be that you've forgotten them :) (I've got the hardback which should be identical to the paperback for content).

*Which led to the problem that if you bought the US book two and the UK book 3 you missed a bit.

I thought it was just my memory going on me when i read one or two lines that i didn't remember, but then i got to a passage where Moist visits the UU library and it clamped into a chair and a wizard uses a machine to read his mind to work out which book he came into the library to find, can not for the life of me ever remember reading that before.

Or am i just going mad?

I've had that when re-reading something and thinking eh  I don't remember this bit :p but I read a lot and that tends to be why.

Actually, I don't remember that bit of Postal. Must re-read...

On a similar note, I've been buying up ebooks willy-nilly since I got an iPad recently. The Pratchetts all seem fine, but I also bought the last two books in Alan Dean Foster's Spellsinger octology (read and enjoyed the rest years ago) - and the damn things are full of typos. Are these things scanned in via OCR or something?
