Anyone know much about this game?

Just seen some details on Playstation.blog & engadget:

I saw a video of it and by the looks of it you have a mat which the eye toy hovers above and you place cards on the mat and it reads them. Kind off like a interactive Top Trumps.

$70 you get the game, a couple of packs of cards (you can buy more cards later) and the PS3 EyeToy (the HD IP camera, is what it was called before I think).

Has there been any games like this previously that I can read about? Sounds interesting, and I deffo want the camera, (held of getting the 360 one). Am I mistaken in thinking any plug and play USB cameras can be plugged in on the 360 as well?

This game will apeal to the fantasy card game players only really, looks quite fun to play but i dont think its going to be a big seller to the non fans. I was kinda considering buying it though, depending on the price of the PS eye by itself just to have a go. Some of the new Eyetoy games look great though (loadsa info at TGS).

Seems like its going to be going for 59.99

I'm really tempted to be honest, especially after watching the trailer on this weeks PSN.

I can't say i've ever really played this kind of card games before but it does look really interesting.

Here is the packaging and what you get in the box:

Anyone else going to be getting it?

I want the camera, but this game looks a bit abstract for my tastes. I am not really a big fan of any "turn-based" games. Also I cannot think of a single game I have played like this before, so I dunno if I want to take the risk. Looks like Interactive top trumps to me, which is a bit less than I expected for the first camera game on PS3.

My nephew plays that Yu-Gi-Oh thing, and from what i've seen its way way more involved than just a simple top-trumps, though the basics ideas are still there.

With the option of playing on-line I think this will be a decent enough game.

Plus i'm getting old so something like this would be good for me, I can't keep up with these frantic games of today :p

I think I'll be picking up my PSEye in this bundle. I spend a *lot* on TCGs as it is, so I know that at the very least if it's worth playing I'll be able to get discounts on the cards and numerous promos (assuming it's produced as an ordinary TCG too)...

As we've mentioned above, Eye of Judgment will appeal to a very, very select audience, but that audience will get a lot of enjoyment out of the title. I personally had a great time with it, although not everyone in the office had the same reaction. Take this into account before investing the money, but we can say with confidence that this is a fun card game that, if in the hands of card lovers, will be rather well received.

Now go do some Judging.

Gave it an 8/10 not bad, like they say I think it will only appeal to people who like these kind of games, but its prob worth getting just for the new eye toy. Even if you havent tried these card type games i think some will like it just for how different it is to all the other games out there.

It looks a good concept but i don't think it'll catch on.

Josh

You dont think it will catch on?

You have any idea how many Yu gi oh cards are sold worldwide?

Its been on the go for 10 years, sold 23 million comics, 17.5 million copies of the video game, about 10 different TV series, god knows how many million cars both official and knocked off............

The brats are currently lapping this kind of stuff up.

I'd quite fancy it for the eye toy, assuming it'll be used for other things.

I'm kind of hoping that when Home finally is available, there'll be some kind of video chat available. That would be great for chatting with friends and family abroad, rather than take the PC route (which we currently don't bother with anyway, besides ICQ) would be cool just to turn on the PS3, and be able to chat with them, for free, with video, via the "telly"

If Home allows this, I would definitely be after an eye toy.

V1N.

I can get it for £24 with the Eyetoy etc so will probably pick this up, at worst i could sell it on for a small profit :)

Yeah, but this aint Yu-Gi-Oh!

Is there even a cartoon for this stuff?

They dont need a cartoon, they need the idea that it can be done.

Then a new Yu-gi-oh game comes out using the same idea to play it and Whoosh! its away, which ever platform its released on.
