Eyefinity with Dell IPS? Opinions?

I'm looking at implementing an eyefinity setup now that I am the proud owner of a 5870 system.

Was looking at purchasing 3 x Dell UltraSharp U2410 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor but feel the bezels might be a little large, plus the fact that they probably run at 60HZ is a little offputting for something so expensive now that 120HZ monitors are available.

Has anyone got any setups they can share with me (along with piccys if possible)? I would appreciate any advise on this and I am sure a lot of other people are in the same boat but reluctant to move until they see what it looks like. (when do we think thin/no bezel monitors will be out and is it worth waiting?)

Anyway I look forward to your reply's (and thanks in advance).

Edit: I am a 100% gamer btw.

Kyle Bennett at [H]ardOCP uses the Dells for eyefinity, if you have a look around the site he's done a few articles with them.

i presume mainly gaming maybe design too. if it works i bet it will look absolutely awesome.. if you do decide to take the plunge, get some pics on the forum man!!!

I don't think it's worth going for 120 hz. The main advantage of that would be the possibility to use 3d shutter glasses.

Tripple U2410 should look rather stunning. The bezel will however be noticeable yet I do not think it's gonna be disturbing. A video what appears to be using three Dell 2407 A04 screen's is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3OWpAj78k4

When I looked into eyefinity I had read about extra thin bezel screen's that are due to come out soon. However not sure if it will be worth it. Also I would assume that they are going to be TN panels...

Well getting 120fps is not going to be possible in most cases, i guess it will reduce tearing, but id rather go with some high quality dells.

If i could have afforded it, i would have bought three of the dells in question.
But i ended up splashing out on three dell P2310's. For just over £200 each, they seem great value for money. 23" Nice adjustable stands, havent tryed portrait mode yet, but the colours in game look great.
I've had this setup for one day, and already i dont notice the bezels, your brain just learns to cancel them out. For over half the price these seem more than adequate for me

I think this chap uses 3xDell P2310 screens which are 23" with a thin (ish) bezel - TN panels but not seen any complaints and seem to work very well with eyefinity - check out his other videos they are stunning. All iracing videos but cracking stuff.

It`s got me thinking - I`ve got a single 24" NEC VA panel - which is great but 3 screens are tempting - I play a lot of racing sims.

Looking at a HD5850 with a view to going down the 3 screen route ....

Thanks for the info. Any Chance of a piccy of your setup?

Powda

No worries, here you go. The one on the far left is a temporary screen, till the third dell comes tommorow.

I definatley recommend going eyefinity if you can. It adds so much immersion and sense of speed in racing games. And the extra view is brilliant in COD and WOW:)

eyefinity looks like some great tech.. proper widescreen with more realistic field of vision. Next build i think ill jump aboard. great for fps and racing but how about something like a strategy game? would be awesome of have more viewing area :)

hope this bug gets fixed with ati and 120hz mons and wonder what the nvidia GT300 has to offer.

Just for information purposes I was using dual screens about 3 years ago with Total Annihalation and subsequently supcom. You could have a map + controls on one screen and the main game view with nothing else getting in the way on your main screen.

Also the same sort of thing with x (the space game). Eyefinity on the other hand brings all the same things to the table as well as having the peripheral vision on FPS/Car games or in the case of WoW, just a huge visible range!!

I will definately be purchasing something but still havent made my mind up on what. Am thinking the IPS monitors are just a little to expensive coming out at £1300.00 for 3. Have got some of the LED back lit Dell 24" monitor's at work and to tell you the truth am not to impressed with them.

Will probably end up going with 3 x Dell 22" or 23" IPS screens instead as they are a lot cheaper. Only downside is that they dont have support for displayport so I would have to purchase an adaptor...

Well I still havent taken the plung (sort of waiting for the think bezel'd monitors that were supposed to be on the horizon). Surely more than one person has the setup and can share piccys???

Well I currently have a Dell 2407 monitor. I should have a U2410 (I'll take the risk) very soon to use as the new centre monitor and I am looking for a cheap second 2407 from an auction site. Hope this proves to be the right way to go. I'll post pics when I get them all.
