Eyetoy - How good is it as a webcam?

I am looking at buying a webcam right now and ive heard that the Sony Eyetoy is good, but how does it compare to proper webcams? The new smaller silver Eyetoy can be bought for just £15, is it a steal? I would be using it for Messenger.

Oh and what is the resolution and framerate of this camera?

My friend uses one and I've heard stories of others. I'm told that the wuality is superb and better than any other webcam on the market. Keep in mind you will need to download special drivers, these can be found with google :)
 
they do something to the mic which makes it really loud on the other side of telephony softwares like skype. its really ennoying.
 
I got an Eyetoy as part of a trade when I got hold of a PS2 with the intention of selling it. I found out they could be used as webcams and i'm really glad I didn't sell it on now! Absolutely awesome quality for what they cost in comparison to most other high end webcams that i've used in the past. Very highly recommended from me, it's really fast and pic quality is good as webcams go.
