What England need is someone to give the players a wake up call as to what it means toplay for their country. Until this happens you will never succeed

But this assumes that just because Hodgson seems like a nice chap, he's a pushover, and will not tear into players if it is necessary. At Fulham the kids when training at the training ground were often kept away from the first team as Hodgson would give them some shall we say some choice words at times, Zamora missed a sitter in training and old nice 'Roy' unleashed an absolute tirade of stick that was basically along the lines of "that's why your ******* ****, that's why no one will pay any ******* money for you, you're a ******* striker but you can't ******* score"

Hardly motivational talk of the century but he is not one to take any **** and will hand out an ear bashing when necessary.

Hodgson is tactically very astute, which when working with a bunch of players that don't play together regularly, and even more so when they are playing teams with more technical ability than us, is of the utmost importance.

Harry is about as tactically astute as a sausage, in the vast majority of games that spurs have come up against a team with players of comparable ability they have been utterly battered, Man U consistantly humble them, as do Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City and the other sides that have players as good as Spurs, and against teams that are just better than they are ala Real Madrid they get absolutely humiliated.

With the squad at his disposal Spurs should not be miles behind Man U and Man City in what has been a horribly weak season from the top sides in the premier league, if he was anywhere near as good as he is given credit for Spurs would be right up there with Man U and Man City, not desperately trying to grab 4th place, and hoping that Chelsea don't win the CL.

I agree on the Rednapp front. I don't think he was the right person either. If he was the technical mastermind so many people think then Spurs woul dhave been contenders rather than scrambling for CL placement at the end of the season.

In fact I don't think it really matters who the manager is for the next few seasons for England because untill the players themselves understand the great privilege they have been given in donning the national strip an representing their country at the highest levels, then the manager is immaterial.

Personally the impression i get from the majority of England players is they have no respect for the colours and no real interest in representing their country. This much is obvious by the levels of disrespect shown by so many of them in light of their disastrous world cup campaign.

In most other EU countries like Italy, Germany, Spain etc the players actually do feel honoured when they walk out on to the pitch in their national colours. Maybe the England players need a few lessons in humility and patriotism before they are selected ?
