FA CUP 3rd round and other football (**Spoilers**)

didnt think it was a penker myslef, close though, surprised the ref didnt give it.

looked to me like alonso left his legs there.

he could have jumped the tackle and continued unhindered imho.

Sorry mate, you're gonna have to watch it again, Alonso has jumped and Gilberto has gone through his legs, nothing more to it.
I've seen it plenty of times. I saw all the replays during the game and I saw the same thing you did on MotD.

Gladly the ref didn't buy it like you guys did ;)

Was very good play from the ref. Great positioning and a good decision. I did think the booking was pretty harsh.

If he's given away a free kick for simulation/diving then its at least a yellow so the ref had no option after making the right decision.

Yeah, I just think in that situation it is pretty harsh. There was contact after all.

Never a pen but I still think the booking is harsh. It wasn't of a Ronaldo standard dive after all.

But surely if your saying Alonso tried to decieve the ref to earn a pen (which wasn't the case anyway ;) ) then that deserves a yellow card.

I'm saying it wasn't a pen, I'm saying there was contact and I'm saying he's going down already. There's no way it was a pen but I still think the booking is harsh.

I understand why he had to be booked once the decision was made, but the rule was put into place for the dirty cheats like Ronaldo.

I think the Alonso scenario is going to be one of these ones, where if your player goes down you'll think it's a penalty and if your player makes the tackle you'll think it isn't. Chuffed with the result, think we controlled the game apart from the spell just after liverpool scored. 3 very nice goals today as well, although the defending was a little bit soft for the second and third .

When a player tries to sheild the ball from me I got right through them, you cant shield the ball ffs.

yea i see this in a lot of premiership.champs league games and it riles me each time! its like just run around him !!! and get the ball!

or at least give him a good old shoulder barge - which should be totally fair as the opponent isin control of the ball.. right?
