Fabio Cannavaro - World Player Of The Year

I think FIFA should have had Roberto Carlos a few year's ago.
Cannavaro is a great player but hasn't been the best in the world!

Correct. It's a farce. The Italians should be ashamed of winning that world cup after cheating to get past Australia.
 
To the people saying he doesn't deserve the award, who do you think does?

IMO, he's been one of the best defenders in the world for years, he had a great season at Juventus and an amazing WC. People need to remember that there's more to football than scoring goals and pulling off fancy flicks.

On sky sports yesterday they commented on how a defender shouldnt be named world player of the year because forward players have a much more difficult job and have to do so much more. I agree tbh

a defender doesnt usually get nominated as they don't get noticed. strikers are nominated as they score goals and hence people remembers them saying such and such a striker scored this goal but never such and such a defender made these great tackles the whole game. personally i think a midfielder's job is the hardest (esp central ones who play both AM and DM roles).
I think its a farce in the sense that they all know who's gonna win it way before it's announced and also Juve had some dire results in the Champions league so surely Cannavaro must have been missing in those games or not playing well enough.

Out of interest, who said that? I can't believe a professional footballer would make such a ridiculous comment.
