Facebook and opt-out apps, ridiculous?

Am i the only one who gets really, really annoyed by constantly having to block apps that produce 'person x read an article/watched a video y' posts that get shunted onto my news feed for no damn reason. Why the HELL is it opt out? If i wanted spam from all these 'applications' i would ask for it.

My app ban list is looking absurd.



All it does is make me want to jump ship and quit Facebook.
 
Never really annoyed me... I'm reading Facebook less and less now though... Thinking of getting rid of it entirely - The amount of rubbish people post on it is becoming too much :p

It's not the tools, it's how people use them.

Just silence them in your feed. I've done that to about twenty people.
 
Not sure how it's ridiculuse, I haven't seen any crappy game stuff for months, first time I see it block it job done, does it matter how long the list is.

Same with people who post I'm going for a shower, going to the loo or anything similar. Instant hide posts or fully remove them. Depending if I actually talk to them IRL.
 
I keep blocking things and all time I set it to no one to message me (notify me) even if my friends post or want to add me etc and all time new spam comes from facebook to my email. It's a terrible site and it's just pure spam 99.9% of the time and getting tired of blocking all the new things they add all time.

because a lot of people wouldnt know about these apps if they didnt have someone already using it and seeing it in action. if everything was opt in only, then all your friends would have to say 'hey, im using this app, and this app and this app......so get it too'.
common sense really to be opt out not opt in.

I am deeply honoured that I have angered the psuedo-macho horde, who appear to believe masculinity is defined by how much of a **** you can be. Unfortunately, I do not believe the world works that way and thusly, I am unable to acquiesce to your request, alas.
 
I'll probably close my account I've hooked up with the people I wanted to meet from my past live and none of my friends use it for anything meaningful.

I don't check it much either. I've already got it down to the bare minimum so next step is to close it.
