Flashed my IN932x to m622a13.zip from stock. I used flashmenu to do it straight from Vista. It all w
Ive tried the CMOS switch on the back, the jumper, and taking the battery out for a bit, nothing changes and it still doesn't boot.
The bios LED display shows error 90.

I guess it's fried, I have a FDD laying around if I need to use that, or is it an RMA job?

if you've misflashed it, then its borked and an RMA is required. don't tell them about the misflash.

<edit>
it is generally reccomended that Bios-Flashes be done via the bios, you can use flash drives these days.

you could try a hot swap from a working board this has its own risks
or if you dont want to rma you could contact the board maker most offer a bios replacement for around £7

Well I never thought that flashing the bios would completely bork the board, I assumed (and read) about reflashing it from DOS with a FDD. Oh well

some motherboards will semi boot to a text (dos type) screen. From here you can put in a floppy disk and provided it has the right files on will reflash the BIOS.

You'd have to google your own board, where does it boot too or does it not even turn on and show anything?

Sounds like you've knackered your BIOS completely incl. the bootblock recovery.
abit UK can also supply a new BIOS chip or reprogramme your old 1.

I never suspected anything was wrong with the flash in Windows, it programmed it fine, didn't hang or crash and reported that it flashed successfully. It was the right file for the motherboard, so I can't really put my finger on what caused it.

Wil OC accept the board back if the bios is fried? It's also been longer than 28 days since i placed the order.

I've invested in a new bios chip and it's still coming up with the same post code, 90.

I turned the whole system off at the mains, swapped the chips over, took out the battery and let it sit for a while then reset the cmos jumper.

Turned it all on and it's still not posting. New bios chip and everything.

I guess the only option now is to get it RMAd, can anyone provide an answer to whether OCUK will accept it back?

Thanks.

I am sorry :(

I suppose it means it's more than the BIOS at fault.
I can't see ABIT listed here so I dont know.

Failing that...

I'll prob need to do this if I get the new Phenom for my board.
Gigabyte give you their own program to use (@BIOS I think its called) to update it. Does that mean I have a chance of wrecking my board in this same way by using their "in windows" program utility?

danzor, I think that you'll find that OcUK are legally obliged to take it back in the first year.

dr. sarf, it's inherently safer to flash in DOS than Windows - I'm not sure about the Gigabyte Windows utility but the Asus 1 certainly has caused problems.

No way to recover it? Bootblock might still exist. See if theres a recovery method via floppy/cd etc.. for a blind reflash. Prolly putting the BIOS on a disk/disc and pressing a key or combination of keys to initiate it.

Ok, I guess i'll send it back to OC as opposed to Abit.

I still don't understand why it's still not working even after a new bios chip, the error 90 is to do with the uGuru utility. It's the overclocking/fan speed etc controls.

I guess i'll take the battery out and turn the machine off at the mains and leave it until the morning see if that does anything.

Use a usb flash drive, i cocked up my bios update by doing it using @BIOS. USB for flashing for the win.

I had a bad flash with my P5K-SE a week after I'd received it from OCUK & although the sales person I talked to was an A*** the tech guy (Rob) was more than helpfull & that was WITH me telling him i'd had a bad flash! He said it sounded like the board was a gonna & he would email me a RMA number to return it so he could test it before sending a replacement. The only annoying thing was I decided to travel the 75miles to stoke on the saturday in the hope they'd sort it there & then although to be fair Rob did say he didn't think he'd have time but I could drop it off anyway. On arriving at OC's it turned out Rob was on his dinner break & by time I got back to the front of the queue nearly an hour & a half had past. Unfortunately I was still told the board wouldn't be looked at that day, it'd have to be done on monday. OK I thought can't be helped...........so you can imagine my annoyance (bearing in mind I didnt leave stoke till about 14.15) when I got home to discover; later on; that 3 emails all sent @ about 16.00 turned up in my inbox regarding reciept of the board, the fact the board had been tested & that a new board was in the process of being packed!!!!
I'd have been quite happy to have waited a couple of hours but I was neaver given the option!

P.S
Just flashed the new board this morning...........used EZ flash this time. Worked a treat!

I dunno if this is relevant to this board or not.
I'm guessing it's a Abit IN9 32x Max.

Postcode 9.0 (not 90)
Complete µGuru initial processAWARD BIOS take over booting job

That seems where your at, but it's possible to re-set the Guru.

How to load default for µGuru

Turn ON your PC with our µGuru™ motherboard and then turn OFF right away as one single action; repeat this action continuously for 3 times.

Has to be worth a try.
