Fairy dust on my windscreen

Hi all,
Whenever the sun catches my windscreen, all I see is thousands of little specs reflecting the sun - it looks like someone has covered the screen in glitter. The car is a 2004 Seat Leon (Cupra TDI if you are really interested!), and has done ~58,000 miles.

To the naked eye, the screen looks clean enough, so i'm wondering if these are just lots of tiny stonechips or something? Is it possible to polish them out, or do I need to be looking at a new screen?

Cheers,
Matt

Park your car out in the sunlight and give the screen a really good clean and then a thorough polish (Autoglym Glass Polish is superb)

Do you still see the specks then in the sunlight? If not, probably just the way dirt and dust catch the light. If so, then it may be marks/imperfections on the glass. Some good going over a couple of times with polish might fix that.

My windscreen looks really clean from outside but as soon as I drive towards the sunlight I suddenly so how clean it really is. Or isn't, if you get my drift :)

EDIT: also give it a good going over inside too

Hi,
I have polished it, but I haven't used any posh polish - just some stuff I had kicking around. I'll take a trip down to the car shop and get some new stuff I guess :)

Aye, for the sake of a tenner for some good polish you can then find out for sure if it is muck or blemishes. And you can always use the polish again on your mirrors and other glass etc

Tree sap maybe? No way that will come off just with polish, so try claying it off maybe?

Can you clay the windscreen too? Didn't realise that, must get round to doing mine and find out for myself, raining now though, good excuse.....

Been out and bought some Meguiars Quik Clay and given all the glass a good going over (in the rain!). The rear screen has loads of yellowy-green slime come off it, but the front was fairly clear - i'm guessing it is just stone chipped to hell, but i'll have to wait for some sunshine again to check for sure.
