Fall Out Boy - Infinity On High

as ive said i have listened to a lot of rap music as its hard to miss, so why oh son of god oh why am i being ignorant? i have listened, i have an opinion, do i have to like it? no.

May I remind you of your post, please?

its not music, its some thick idiot talking fast, the beat is "BOOM BOOM BOOM" in every single "song", yea apostrophies because its not realy a song because its not music. And why do you think rappers have so much sampling of real songs in their "songs"? thats right, because they need some outside inspiration because otherwise it would be yet the same again.

As I said before, such a post can only be borne out of ignorance or idiocy. Please feel free to pick whichever you feel is most applicable to yourself.

you could just post your opinion straight away, i dont want the baggage of crap that comes out of your brain.

i have work to do, im not going to reply to your pap any more, admins feel free to delete this thread, it was a waste , how many posts does this guy need to get one opinion across and realise i have an opinion too.
The difference is that my opinion is one which is based on experience. Yours is based on assumption. I support my opinion with comparisons and explanations. You simply say 'OMFGZZ!!! ITS ALL THEH CRPA!!!!!'

and if you had listened to the new album
Er...I have? I've already told you that I have a copy. :/
you would realise that is a stupid comparison as they are clearly not trying to be your average rock band. take "golden" for example, how are they trying to be more of a rock band by writing a song like that?

They're being as generic as they come. The entire album could be textbook...Just not very good as a whole piece.

true, maybe that was directed at the wrong person, *directs at penski* how can my opinion on rap be not valid, its an opinion, how can what i think not be valid? am i a robot?

It is not valid because it is based on a small sample of the genre.

My opinion on FAB is valid because it is based on a very large sample of the genre.

Do you understand yet or shall I explain again?

I can use smaller words if you need them.

Me use one sound at a time? Yes?

my opinion is not based on assumption, do i have to listen to every single rap/hip hop song ever made to decide i dont like it? how can you disqualify my opinion, who are you to judge the validity of my opnion, you just dont like my opinion, so you block it out with ridiculous arguments. its like saying

'oh i dont like oranges'

then replying with

'oh you must try this one, its slightly bigger, therefor you must like it'

Can we quit the squabbling please and get back to the thread topic, all this arguing is pointless, if you don't like FOB then don't bother posting in a fan thread if you're just going to **** them off.

I'm actually looking forward to this one, i really liked their last album and like the song they've released from infinity on high.

Personally i don't care if they're not considered a purists band, i like what i hear and i don't really care if the hardcore music fanboys think its a sell out.

Really looking forward to it, more of the same is a good thing for me...

A lot of my friends are. I also oiccasionally have a need to use promo CDs.

Hence, I get a lot of them.

Do promo copies come with different packaging etc? I suppose they aren't supposed to be passed or sold on but are they worth much?

Apologies for taking this thread off-topic again, but I just wanted to say that this board's "I think it's ****, therefore it is, and no one should like it because me and my ego say so" is getting really old, really fast. It's pathetic.

Must admit, I'm glad to hear that the new album is sounding good. Looking forward to it myself.

Wow...missed a lot in this thread already....

Where to start, I listened to this album the first chance I got. Hearing this aint a scene a month or so back, I was a little bit worried as to be honest...Its a pile of, well...yeah...Then I had a bit of faith restored when I saw their AOL sessions a few weeks back, and saw them do the take over from the new album...then got the album...and well...Not to cause an album, but it is just generic.

I was lucky enough to be in the states a few years back and caught them at a small home coming show in Chicago just as take this to your grave hit the shelves, and I was blown away...I had never seen a band like them, and I dont think Ill see any bands that will compare to the way I saw them then and the year following. Since then it has been a slow decline to be honest...And in all honesty, I think the band themselves feel the same way...All you have to do is compare a video of Joe and Andy three years back to now, to see how much their stage presence has changed...Patrick is singing songs he doesnt believe in anymore, hence why he is doing so much production work for other bands, and writing his own stuff. And Pete is as ****** off with the 'scene' as ever...Did you see the comments written on his hand during the Friday night project???

They were alway gonna hit the height they have done, from the moment Def Jam/Island signed them up before they released Take this to your grave. When from under the cork tree hit, there were still some classic FOB sounds on there, but you could feel it going away everytime you put TTTYG next to it...And now...well...there is no comparison. Fair play to the band for trying a new sound, I think thats awesome, I just dont think it works. They built their fan base up by being the best at what they did...Now they are just an average band playing average music, because its just not special.

To say that, I think...The take over, the breaks over..and thriller form the new album are fantastic...and despite how hard they are being pushed for this album...I mean doing the album chart show...and the radio one at your school thing the past two weeks....I think this album will flop, it will sell...but FOB are known for getting their own way in the end, and no record label will stand in their way...so once this album does flop...I reckon it will be back to a TTTYG style/sound...and the world will be a better place

Jeez hambags ladies!!

Really liked the last album as a 'hit play and dont care' record. True there not a brilliant band but make good fun music!
Heard the latest song on the radio and takes some getting used to -

Looking forward to the new album!

I know what you mean, but i just have a thing against musical pureists since i work with a few, i remember a while ago me saying i liked panic at the disco, and being told that they suck live so i shouldn't bother listening to them anymore.

To me if i like listening to it on my ipod in the train, then i don't really care about anything else, i'm still listening to the last FOB album because i find its a great album to take my mind away.

I really liked the song they're released from the new album from the first time i heard it, hopefully the rest will live up to my expectations.

Ooh, risque.

OMS, I noticed that on the Friday Night Project! ;)

I'm not a huge fan of the band, I've not noticed anything really out of the ordinary. Having said that, I have put together an acoustic cover of 'Sugar We're Going Down'.

It's average at best. By-the-numbers pop-rock designed to sell copies to people who actually have to think about their haircuts...

Wow, you just summed up fob/panic! and all these emo/poppunk groups in one fell swoop. You sir are my saviour i've been trying to sum them up for some time but i can't wait to use that jive on someone that thinks there emo/scene but really they're just watered down chavs!

I personally don't like them, not just through the sheer over exposure you see in magazines and stuff, but just as a whole, they're not good. There are a vast amount of bands better than this, and yes i can use an example if you people like.
Brand New are one band, Biffy Clyro are another.
These bands deserve the attention a whole lot more than Fall Out Boy, Biffy more so.
I can even stomach My Chemical Romance more than FOB.
Again my opinion, yes i have heard the new album, my mate "acquired" it. It fails to generate any excitement or enthusiasm from me at all. This isnt exciting music, it doesnt evolve the genre, it is by numbers, corporate pap.

And that whole "Rap" thing, that was going on earlier in the thread was a bit silly and mis-informed, you can't say a whole genre is rubbish. You haven't heard everything that is available, all you can say is that you dont like a group or a band, rubbishing a whole genre is mis-guided.

I personally dont like the commercial groups from the hip-hop genre that i have heard, although Kanye has his moments :)
