Fallout 4 or Metal Gear Solid 5: PP?? (Or others if preferred?)

I'm currently playing through Fallout New Vegas and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I love this game! I remember playing Fallout 3 and being angry at how many times I died but I feel I've got the hang of gameplay, so I feel that Fallout 4 is a natural progression for me
(I sorta used F:NV as a cheap 'trial' of what 4 could be like as it was only 2 pounds on steam)
But I also like the look of Metal Gear Solid 5... I've always loved the series from Metal Gear Solid on the PS1 to portable ops on PSP, but between MGS and Fallout, which one is best?
-I kinda know the ending to both, so no shock value there in terms of story.
-I really want a new open world game to play (any suggestions for other games accepted)
-And I want something that I can escape with after college, something immersive so the overall quality has to be good.
That last point is particularly poignant as F:NV I spend a lot of the time just exploring and listening to the radio stations!
Any suggestions greatly appreciated or personal experience, cheers!

NV is far from a "cheap trial", it's league better than 4 apart from general shooting mechanics and slight tweaks for ease of use. Don't feel the need to stop playing and move on to 4, if anything finish off NV's main campaign and move onto the other excellent DLC's.

As for MGSV, sure it has it's flaws (mostly regarding story progression), but it's still a really solid, mechanically sound game with tons of potential for experimentation and it just generally fun to mess about in. You really have to make the effort though to shake up your usual play style ever now and then and make sure you take full advantage of everything the game throws at you, otherwise the mission structure may start to become rather repetitive. I personally enjoyed it more than FO4, I can't even be bothered to go finish off that game anymore even though I'm right near the end, it's just so dull and plays it way too safe.

MGS V - superb gameplay, particularly stealth, odd story, weak open world(not much to explore).
F4 - weak gameplay, boring main story but lots side ones, decent open world.

In my view, MGS V is the better one, I prefer games that get one thing right rather than those that offer overall mediocrity.

Judging by what you've stated F4 is more suitable for you. Listening to the radio and exploring is not enough for me anymore, I need either gameplay or good writing/rpg experience to go with it.

I'm recommending The Witcher 3, if you don't want guns etc.

By far one of the best games in 2015. Blows FO4 out of the water.

Can't comment on MGS, as I don't own it, nor have I played it.

^ This out of Fallout 4/ Fallout NV / MGS i would say the witcher 3.

It's one of those games that just has so much it can offer. I felt the other titles lacked this.

If you have a console(ps3 or 4) The last of us is a must but not open world.

I ended up going for MGS 5 in the end, but thanks for the advice guys. I've chalked up the Witcher 3 for a steam sale in the summer as I'm only gonna focus on fallout NV and MGS 5 for the time being, cheers guys!
