Fallout: New Vegas

Yes, they were okay... But I preferred the selection of songs in Fallout 3. There are a couple of good ones in this range, but there were just so many in FO3 :)

Do the radio mods from Fallout 3 work in this one? I enjoyed the music from Fallout 3 but there's only so many times I want to set a flame in someone's heart.

My game has developed an annoying graphical glitch that when I zoom onto a target it lights up with a red splurge. Apart from that I'm really enjoying the game but had to add the bobble heads mod and a radio mod for more variety.

There didn't seem to be any decent automatic weapons, I had 9mm/10mm/12.7mm SMGs, All-American, Assault Carbine etc but none of them seemed to really do enough damage, kept getting that icon suggesting that enemy DT was too high. So basically the net result was that I just used Sniper Rifle nearly all the time and magnums up close.

Mountains got very annoying, you know, the ones that blatantly you should be able to climb/jump over but there's some kind of invisible wall blocking you.

I found the same thing. It seems pointless using anything other then a pistol or a rifle since they do so much more damage then anything else. The SMGs are only good against unarmoured targets which you can 1 shot with a decent rifle anyway.

The invisible walls annoy me so much. I hate having to walk MILES just because they've decided I shouldn't be able to jump up a cliff.

Most of the automatics only seem to work well at really close range. Even stuff like the minigun is crap if they're more than about 5m away.

If you don't want to use rifles try out the riot shotgun. With slugs or magum ammo it's very effective.

Aren't the guns tied to your strength SPECIAL stat, if a gun needs 6 strength and you only have 4 or 5 they become much less effective?

I'm getting withdrawal symptoms - I need to blow someone's head off with a .50 cal

Heh :p

I'm getting the opposite effect. Now that I've explored pretty much everything, I can't seem to work up the motivation to go back to the game and finish the main quest. I took the "explorer" perk at level 30, but since I've spent most of my time just wandering round doing quests, there were only four unexplored locations left (and two of these were at the legion camp that I think you can only access as part of the main storyline).

Maybe a spot of Deathclaw hunting will get me back into the swing of things :p

@Duff-Man, can you give some tips (spoiler free if possible) for what to loot, sell or keep?
Did you play Hardcore mode?

Weapon repair kits are a god send, especially for the rare weapons which you can't repair normally. So keep the parts required: Duct Tape, Scrap Electronics, Scrap Metal, Wonderglue, Wrench in a storage area until you have the requirements to make them. There is plenty of most things in the game although Wrench's I found to be the main item I kept running out of, so always pick those up.

Yes, if you don't meet the strength requirement they are less accurate.

Odd, might be a bug, nothing in The Vault wiki about him/her. What happens when you try to talk? Can you kill and loot? Plasma Casters are fun.... lol

I didn't play on hardcore mode, but I am something of a looter, so can certainly try to give some tips :p

Early game, a lot of things are worth picking up. Look for a high value-to-weight ratio. At the start, anything with a value of 10 caps per unit weight is well worth grabbing.

Grenades are a gold mine... I didn't find them to be very useful in combat, but they weigh only 0.5 and go for around 100 caps a piece. Mines are similarly worth keeping. Weapons are also well worth grabbing... If you have a half-decent repair skill you can usually get more money by using a poor condition weapon to repair a semi-knackered one.

Armour is very rarely worth keeping... If you find some combat armour then that will go for a very large sum, but it's not easy to come by, and early on anyone wearing it will probably spank you anyway. I found cigarettes to be very common and well worth picking up (20 value for 0.5 weight), and early on wine and spirits (whisky / scotch / vodka) are worth picking up (~10 value for 1 weight).

As for other random stuff, ALWAYS pick up the following items:
- Wrench
- Wonderglue
- Duct tape
- Scrap metal
- Scrap electronics.

Similarly, always buy them from vendors if you can. These are the ingredients for a repair kit (3*scap metal, 2*wrench, 2*glue, 1*tape, 1*electronics), and so are absolute gold. Repairing weapons is the best way to earn lots of caps quickly... Weapons are worth a LOT more than they were in fallout 3, especially fully repaired. Even fairly common weapons like the service rifle can be worth a few thousand fully repaired.

On a related note, when you get to level 14 take the "jury rigger" perk, if you can. You will be able to repair alsorts of high-value weapons using bog standard weapons. Repairing a 3000-cap super-sledge using a couple of shovels is an extreme example, but still, you can get a lot of value this way. That said, by level 14 you probably won't be short on caps anyway.

Finally, keep track of which traders have lots of caps, since you will probably drain the caps from the early traders very quickly. I found the gift shop owner in Novac usually has a couple of thousand, and the gun runners always have 8000 caps.

Happy looting! :D

Edit: Gecko hides and radscorpion glands are well worth keeping to sell. Cazador poison glands are worth a lot, but good luck surviving a cazador swarm at less than level 10!
