Hi

After my recent issues with my Alfa 147 (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17844870), I've decided that once it's fixed, I'm getting shot.

I could do with something a bit bigger now we have our daughter, and need something that is going to get me to work & back reliably. It's fair to say I've fallen out of love with my Alfa

So, after selling the 147, and paying off what it's costing to fix it, I should have around £4k to play with and am looking at a decent sized saloon car.

Clearly, I don't want a BMW, Audi or VW as for that kind of money you get nothing and I still want something that looks respectable & goes reasonably well.

I was looking at the mk1 Octavia VRS & was surprised to find them in the price range. Any other suggestions or anything I really need to know about the Octy before starting to seriously look would be much appreciated :)

a VRS? it'll be a dog for 4k

There's quite a few around that price range, 2001-2002 models. Have a shufty on Pistonheads, like I said I thought what you said initially but they don;t look shabby.

I just don;t know if I could bring myself to drive a Mondeo (or a Skoda for that matter..... ;)) :(

Yep, the belt & that was fitted yesterday, did a test on the engine and..................... there's no compression in 3 of the cylinders so it's done some damage. Make that £700 bill a £1700 one
:(

So I'll have to get it fixed then sell it, anyone fancy a 147 with some lovely new engine parts, 7 months tax, 12 months MOT :p

So now I'll have £2.5-3k, Mondeo here I come :(
