Yep, the belt & that was fitted yesterday, did a test on the engine and..................... there's no compression in 3 of the cylinders so it's done some damage. Make that £700 bill a £1700 one
So I'll have to get it fixed then sell it, anyone fancy a 147 with some lovely new engine parts, 7 months tax, 12 months MOT

Difficult to repair those twin sparkys...when the cambelt went on my sister's car, even when they had supposedly rebuilt the engine, there were all sorts of problems in the months afterwards, which eventually led to the engine being replaced after months of wrangling (including threatened legal action) with Alfa UK.
Look at the amount of black gunk around the cambelt from this guys car:-

Ital Autos will supply and fit a recon engine for £1250 or so. AutoLusso probably the same if you're down South.
As for replacement cars, how about a Lexus IS200? You could probably pick up a 80k car for £3.5k. a lot more interesting than a Mondeo.
